After a decade in production, the 450th and final Bugatti Veyron has been sold. It is the Grand Sport Vitesse "La Finale", seemingly another demure Bugatti one-off.
To be shown in full at Geneva...
The La Finale will be on display at Geneva alongside chassis #1, the first Veyron produced back in 2005. Since then we've had the
Super Sport Coupe
, Grand Sport Roadster and Grand Sport Vitesse Roadster. There have of course been those infamous special editions too, which we will not attempt to recount here. What will motor shows be without another one-off Veyron?
The four original development goals for the Veyron are still fairly incredible today. It was to transfer more than 1,000hp to the road (the actual power figure is 1,001hp), reach a top speed of over 400kph (248mph), accelerate to 62mph in less than three seconds and still be suitable "for driving to the opera in comfort and style." While the hybrid hypercars may have stolen some thunder from it recently but the Veyron's technical achievement remains pretty bonkers.
"An unprecedented chapter in automobile history has reached its climax", modestly claims Bugatti President Wolfgang Durheimer. A price hasn't been announced for the La Finale, but consider this has some kind of indicator: the average price of recent sold Veyrons is 2.3 million euros. Lordy.
