Who understands the new Mercedes naming strategy? Everyone? Good, then you'll have no problem translating 'GLC Coupe' to a production-spec Mercedes product.
For those less clued up, it's essentially a C-Class sized swoopy SUV. 'GL' denotes a Mercedes SUV and then the third letter assigns it to a segment. See GLA, GLE and so on. See it as a BMW X4 rival (yes, there clearly is demand) with a more conventional GLC surely arriving as an X3 competitor soon. For now it's nothing more than a design study for the Shanghai show but Mercedes states it is a "near-production-standard study." Mercedes typically keeps its production cars fairly similar to the concept (see S-Class coupe concept to the real thing) so expect something closely resembling this car on a motor show stand soon.
