Goodwood's 'right crowd, no crowding' Members' Meeting has evolved into a major fixture at Lord March's estate, the focus on racing rather than dressing up or commercial love-ins appealing to the core, enthusiast audience. Held at the Goodwood Circuit, the Members' Meeting combines the Festival of Speed's more diverse range of cars and bikes with a Revival-like focus on proper racing - arguably the best of both Goodwood worlds.
This in a high-speed demo? Yes please!
And this year it's promising something rather special, with a 'high-speed demonstration' of 16 Group 5 era racing cars, comprising at least half a dozen Porsche 917s, five Ferrari 512s and four original Lola T70s. Celebrated drivers who competed them in period, including Le Mans winners Richard Attwood and Jackie Oliver, will be present too and while the Goodwood track isn't quite as expansive as La Sarthe it should still be quite a sight.
Ground effect Formula 1 cars of the late 70s and early 80s will also be doing high-speed demonstration runs, likewise iconic Super Touring cars. And there will be 12 feature races too, drivers competing for points for four elected 'houses' chaired by Anthony Reid, Emanuele Pirro, Nicolas Minassian and Jochen Mass.
If you're not already signed up to the GRRC there is now opportunity to put your name down for non-member tickets, priced at £131 for the weekend or £82 for the day. The meet takes place on March 19-20. See here for details.
