Car designers need to follow stringent guidelines to ensure driver and pedestrian safety. Bumpers must sit at a certain height, lights mustn't dazzle and so on. If you had the chance to improve a feature that will find its way onto all cars, what would it be?
Moonhawk, our OP, suggests pedal force controlled brake lights. The idea behind it is the brake light bar will illuminate according to the amount of brake force applied. Something similar is already used on the BMW X6 whereby the brake lights are separated into two zones. Under heavy braking, both sections are illuminated and the hazard lights flash before the car comes to a stop.
We live in the UK. Sometimes it rains. Another interesting addition would be connecting the dipped headlight switch to the windscreen wipers. Whenever the wipers are turned on, the dipped beam will automatically switch on.
