Looking through the classifieds now will have most of us questioning when prices of Porsches, fast Fords and even Peugeots became so expensive.
The increase in values may have stemmed from the uncertainty in other markets, or dealers perhaps attempting to create a future classic by purchasing dwindling stock. Whatever the case, modern classics that were attainable a few years ago are now out of reach for many.
Nostalgia got the better of sdkrc, our original poster, who spent most of his childhood sifting through Auto Trader, Exchange & Mart and other classifieds magazines. He has shared a few cut-outs from back then that make for grim viewing in the current market.
Ferraris are known to do very well now, no better evidenced than by a 365 GTB/4 'Daytona' being available for £94,500 back in the 90s; now those cars are £400K plus. At the same time a Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV was up for sale at £45,995 when equal cars are now more than £300,000. It's enough to make you shed a tear in some cases!
