Alfa Romeo GTAm evocazione
"As a recent convert to the emotional appeal of Italian cars, I ended my previous hunt for a cheap and cheeky little Italian number for my list. However, I scrapped the whole thing when I spotted this (then added some of the old options back onto the shortlist...). I'm not going to waste your time by talking about how perfect this car is. If you can't see it, I can't help you. There's a couple of amazing 75s up for auction as well; more on these later."
Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II
Cost: £49,995
Balance: £12,010
Why I chose it: "Rallying has always simultaneously fascinated and terrified me, but I think that is what makes it so special. This was always my favourite rally car (apart from the Metro 6R4 which would be here in its place if I could find one). I love homologated rally cars; my second and, a little bit sadly, third cars were Suzuki Ignis Sports (yes, they count!). They have since set the benchmark of how I want to feel when I first drive any new car. Hopefully this Integrale can live up to that - I'm sure it can!"
Honda Integra Type R
"My FWD choice was almost always going to be one of these, even in the original list; I just have more money to spend on one with the revised version! Another fully restored car as well, which is fortunate. My first fast car experience on the road was when my Dad borrowed an EP3 Civic Type R for a night. Oh what a night, and what a drive into school the next morning! I felt like a touring car driver and, much like rallying, that's a feeling I've wanted to recreate for a very long time. But not in the Civic, I want the ultimate Type R!
"My only reservations would be that I do prefer the look of the UK model, and I would want to throw a set of 15" wheels on to feel the difference. I'll spend the change on them!"
