PH recently returned from a trip to Wales to watch rally cars slip, slide, soar and splash their way around the Sweet Lamb complex as part of Wales Rally GB. Having won the event fourth time on the trot and already wrapped up the championship VW then announced it was pulling the plug on its factory team, its Polo R WRC leaving the sport as the most successful car in WRC history. So as one chapter ends and another is to begin with a new generation of cars we were left reflecting on our favourite moments from the sport. And, if we could single out one car on any stage what and where would it be?
Original poster to the thread that inspired this - Allan_I_W - picks out watcing McRae in 1995, this inspiring him to buying his first Subaru and ownership today of the rare groove 22B Impreza. The 80s are a popular pick with many, singled out as offering the best cars, drivers and events culminating in the Group B monsters. Others look further back to childhood memories of sideways 70s saloons out in the forests.
