Autonomous driving isn't something we can stop - it is happening. Tesla is already offering autonomous software in its cars with more manufacturers following suit. PHer DJT is concerned with autonomous software on another level. He would like to know whether all autonomous vehicles will follow an industry standard of driving whereby the safest and most efficient journey is taken. Or will there be settings to choose from depending on the car or style of journey?
Tesla, as an industry first, allows vehicles to break speed limits but will future autonomous vehicles understand the gravity of the situation - if a passenger needs to be rushed to A&E will the driving style be more aggressive, or could cars communicate with others and move out of the way?
In turn, car manufacturers can create profiles that exploit the best elements of their cars still keeping the same tolerance level for risk aversion. Are there any driving styles you would like to see on autonomous vehicles?
