The fashion industry goes through phases - double-breasted suits are back in style after a few years, camouflage has seen a new lease of life of recent. The car industry is no different - matt colours hit stardom and then fell from grace in what seemed an instant. Then textured wraps were the next best thing, if mainly restricted to SW1 and similarly supercar infested neighbourhoods.
On the whole though the nation's motorways are awash with the old 50 shades of grey, silver, black or white with even blues or reds considered a bit daring. Probably one of the reasons we in the PH office convinced Dan to go for the lairy Firesand Orange on 'his' F-Type long-termer - even in the January gloom like today it really 'pops' and stands out. OK, so conservative colours like the standard 'resale silver' are the safe bet for residuals. But why not live a little! From the Rebel Blue on Polestar Volvos to the Liquid Yellow seen on many Renaultsport Clios and Meganes there are some signature paint schemes out there.
