If you like traditional V12 thrills, the
Aston Vanquish S
will be right up your street. In fact 'traditional' sells the car short, because it's exactly what you would want from a modern Aston Martin: fast, capable, engaging and hugely desirable.
Even a grey backdrop can't make it look bad!
And here's another one! The Vanquish S drop-top follows the coupe far quicker than the
standard Volante
did, carrying a similar raft of upgrades. As yet we can only go from what Autocar is reporting without an official release, but it's largely as you might expect: power up to 600hp (from the standard 576) and produced higher up the rev range (7,000rpm against 6,650) along with drivetrain and suspension tweaks to make this the most rewarding Volante yet. The various changes to the gearbox, dampers, anti-roll bars, steering and aerodynamics worked really well for the coupe, so here's hoping the same is true for this car.
From what we can see here it would appear the cosmetic tweaks are carried over too. See the new rear bumper/exhaust arrangement, side skirts and front splitter (don't forget the front is key to the improved downforce, so it at least serves a purpose).
This spec will do just nicely, thanks
There's no mention of any weight saving for the S Volante, which would mean it keeps the 105kg penalty and a kerbweight of 1,919kg with a driver (or 1,844kg without). For reference a
Mercedes-AMG SL63
is 1,845kg without a driver, so by the standards of the class the Aston looks reasonable.
Without official information yet, a price isn't available for the Vanquish S Volante. However, with an S coupe (£199,950) carrying a £7K premium over the standard car and the Volante at £12K more £204,995), expect the Vanquish S Volante to come in at somewhere around £210K. A Continental GTC Supersports is £233,800 as well, is nothing less than 700hp will do...
