The turbocharged Vauxhall Cavalier GSI 2000 was always a rare car, its position as the flagship of the Cavalier range almost guaranteeing that. More than two decades after the last GSI was made, coming across one in any kind of condition is a real find.
PHer 'Buggles' has got one though, a white saloon he purchased unseen from a well-known auction site. His plan? To make the Cavalier his new track project. And yes, the BTCC liveries have already been suggested...
The car is going to need some work though. It was running when Buggles got his hands on it, but the bodywork was in need of some attention before anything major could commence. Fortunately the GSI is now back from the welders, solid and ready for the upgrades to commence. The suspension is back from Gaz (the suspension people, not just a bloke), the roll cage is on order and the wheels are ready to go on - looks like being a great project!
With Buggles having only purchased the car in February this year, there is still plenty to be done. Click here to get up to date with progress, and join us in wishing this dedicated PHer all the best for a cracking Cav - top work that man!
