Apologies in advance. That's not to say this video is of poor quality - it's not, it's fantastically exciting - but because it will make you feel tremendously old. 1998 was less than 20 years ago (just about) yet here we have a British GT sportscar grid featuring Venturis, Marcoses and Listers. And a Saleen Mustang. It's fabulous.
While GT racing is arguably much less homogenised in 2017 than many other formulae, the variety of cars you see here is staggering. The entry list reveals a Quaife R4 GTS, a Mirage GT1, three Harriers and three different types of Marcos. McLaren F1 GTR? Common as muck by comparison...
It shows how incredible this field is that when a Jaguar XJ220 appears it seems nothing extraordinary. 993 GT2s? Barely even noticed them. Wow. Best of all, this video comes from the season finale of 1998, so the racing is what you might call, er, competitive. Oh yes, and then a Viper catches fire. In case you were bored. Watch it now!
