Ford are believed to be unveiling their new 'small' Aston Martin at the Detroit motor show in January.
The V8 powered car will feature a long bonnet allowing the engine to be positioned as far back as possible for the best weight distribution. The V8 will be the same as that used in the current Jaguar range but will have been heavily breathed on by Aston's own engineers.
Prices are expected to be around £65,000 with Ford wanting to pitch it against the 911. The new car will sell in even greater numbers than the current DB7, taking Aston further into mass production and away from its past of bespoke builds and unprofitability.
Pundits are suggesting that it will be named the 'DB5'.
