Porsche is pulling out all the stops currently in a strong marketing offensive. This year they've already launched enough flavours of 911 to give Berty Basset competition in the diversity stakes. There's been the Carrera 4S Cabrio, the Turbo Carbio, 40th Anniversary, the GT3 and probably some more which we didn't notice.
Not content with that they're now introducing a revised GT2. The 2004 model will boast 483bhp when it hits the streets. The extra 21 bhp was found in the canteen next to a bratwurst and onion sandwich and will become standard fitment to the GT2.
The extra power will endow the GT2 with a 0-62mph time of 4 seconds and on to a tantalising 197.8mph. Porsche wouldn't provide more power without matching setup changes so they've revised the shocks, springs and braking (ceramic).
Bodywork changes are minimal. The rear wing will be provided in unpainted carbon fibre on request. It weights 2.8 kilos less and will be standard fitment on the Clubsport version.
The 2004 GT2 will benefit from GT3 style wheels - an incredible 12 inches wide at the rear!
Price in Europe will be 159,100 Euros + VAT + local stuff.
