If you fancy a Ferrari or you're attracted to an Alpina, then flock to MPH ’04, London’s live motoring theatre extravaganza, which is on from 18-21 November.
MPH ’04 is the launch pad for many models of prestige performance cars never seen before in the UK, and many more manufacturers are on hand with their supercars in a venue that encourages up close inspection.
At MPH’04 at Earls Court from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 November there are no “you can look but don’t touch” commissionaires as seen at other motor shows. Involvement is everything – as you would expect when the ringmaster is Jeremy Clarkson with colleagues Richard Hammond and Tiff Needell.
Perhaps the most outrageous of the new models is the Radical SR4. This is a road legal racing car with minimal creature comforts – but mind-blowing attitude. Weighing next to nothing and equipped with a powerful motorcycle engine the Radical is faster accelerating than practically anything on the roads – including most of the vastly more expensive supercars.
And what about the latest Mini Cooper Works? Recently up-rated this is a proper performance car – but with all the practicality that has made the Mini top of the hatchbacks. For something a bit hard core expect three new models from World Rally specialists Subaru.
MPH ’04 goes from the sublime to the Rolls-Royce. For most this is one of the few chances to get up close with a Phantom and, of course, it’s just a stroll to compare and contrast the latest from Bentley. Add new models from BMW (the new M5 über-car), Caterham, Morgan, Mercedes Benz, Volvo and VW (the first sight of the new GTi) and it is clear that MPH’04 will be a must visit attraction for any petrolhead.
