If proof were needed that the driving test doesn't actually do much other than teach you how to pass your test, a 17-year-old girl drove her car off the edge of a 100-foot cliff, just hours after passing. She then told her dad not to shout at her.
Lauren Miller and three pals were in the Renault Clio as it rolled over three times before landing on its wheels on rocks. Two of the girls were winched up the cliff face by rescuers and two taken away by lifeboat, reports the Daily Mirror.
Dad Steve said Lauren, 17, was 'shaking in her boots' when she rang him on her mobile. "She said: "I've had an accident - please don't shout at me"." He asked where his car was and she replied: "It's at the bottom of a cliff."
The road at Anne Port, Jersey, is an accident blackspot. One girl had a broken ankle and all four suffered neck strains. Clive Russell of Jersey Fire Service said: "It was an amazing escape. An hour before they would have gone into the sea."
