The hot Hyundai project is one we've been following for a while now, following its
Nurburgring test programme
WRC campaign
quicker i20 Coupe
. At the Paris motor show a new concept will hint at further at just what to expect.
At the moment this RN30 Concept teaser pic doesn't give way a great deal, Hyundai simply adding that it is "distinguished by its purposeful aerodynamic design". It is definitely an i30 though, meaning the first performance Hyundai will enter a fiercely competitive market that includes the
Leon Cupra
308 GTI
Focus ST
RS
Civic Type R
Golf GTI
. Hyundai describes this RN30 as a "motorsport-inspired concept" developed with its race team, lower and wider stance for greater stability at high speed.
Certainly the prototype seen testing at the Nordschleife appears to mean business, with bigger brakes sitting behind fancier wheels, prominent exhausts and a more aggressive ride height. It's also carrying one heck of a cage behind the front seats, but it would be very surprising to see that make production!
Hyundai will reveal the RN30 concept on Thursday - with a few more details hopefully - on Thursday afternoon. Check back for more info then!
