The cars you can actually buy on the Hyundai stand at Frankfurt include an i20 crossover and the Santa Fe, er, crossover. The Hyundais you want to buy remain concepts but apparently "demonstrate Hyundai's performance ambition." The N sub-brand has been officially launched at Frankfurt so we are at least one step closer to seeing an actual fast Hyundai. Good things comes to those who wait, right?
How many credits for this then?
You will be waiting a long time to see anything like the the Vision Gran Turismo car though, even if there's a token mention of '2025' in the title. It's powered by a hydrogen fuel cell with an additional super capacitor for a total of 884hp. May as well go all out for the concept right? And the kids always remember the really fast stuff, as anyone who had driven the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak car on old Gran Turismo games will tell you...
Alongside the Vision GT Hyundai is also showing a "preview" of the 2016 i20 WRC car. Hopefully this is representative of the real thing as it looks great, the scoops, spoilers and giving it real purpose. Now if some of that aesthetic could find its way to an i20 road car with 200hp or so, we will really have a fast Hyundai to talk about.
