The weekend wasn't the end of the Goodwood news. This week there was confirmation of the fastest cars up the hill, a
great video
or two and opportunity to catch up on some of the stuff missed in another hectic weekend. The A45 AMG now has more than 380hp, for example.
But we're definitely finished with Goodwood this week, leaving the focus back on our usual selection of news, reviews and opinion. Get yourself bang up to date here!
Contain your excitement now
A strong German flavour to the PH news this week, typified by the arrival of a
new Audi A4
. Not the most exciting new car by any stretch but it's fairly guaranteed you will seen tons of them; only right we supply the details. It's as you may expect, right down to some fancy lights and a pretty interior...
To more interesting German wares. The latest Mercedes A45 AMG promises a lot, with 381hp, a front limited-slip differential and adaptive damping. Anyone who has spent time in the pre-facelift car may appreciate any concessions to ride... There was also the promise of "something fast" from AMG later in the week, which wasn't quite exciting enough to offset the horror of the GLE63 AMG Coupe. Another one that will surely be populating every high street very soon.
BMW wasn't far from the news either, with a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle loosely based on an i8. Could this be the car to make hydrogen desirable in a way the i8 did for hybrids?
One last thing, again Mercedes-related. Heard the one about the 610hp AMG GT? With a warranty? If you can't wait for a faster one from the factory...
Even better value secondhand...
However, there's still been plenty from the domestic manufacturers to get excited by this week too, including the announcement
from TVR
that deposits will be taken on the new car from July 7. A brave move when the car hasn't been seen yet...
Elsewhere, it was a great result for Noble at Goodwood with the fastest timed run up the hill. Bentley has launched another limited edition Continental, McLaren is promising more 'Ultimate' models off the P1 and Classic and Sports Car wants to know your best British car. Quite a lot of comments on that thread!
The British theme continued with a Jaguar XKR Buying Guide but there's plenty more besides. Lamborghini will build an Aventador SV Roadster for those who find the coupe too much of a shrinking violet, there's another cool Subaru BRZ only for Japan (agh!) and the amazing Dodge Challenger Drag Pak also.
Live out gangster dreams for £985!
Who knows the other motorsport event that took place over Goodwood weekend? Yep, the Formula E London ePrix, the 2015 season finale. If the comments in
Motorsport on Monday
are anything to go by, it still has some way to go if the PH contingent is to be won over but there were a few happy customers.
A good week for PHer content also, with an American Dream Drive from Neil Srivastava and a pair of £100K Garages, one on Tuesday and the other Friday. Conveniently enough Carpool is a German V8 too...
Chris Rees has defended the Volvo C30, Ben has introduced his Caterham to the Fleet and Shed has selected a rather superb S-Class. That Challenger had to feature again as Pic Of The Week as well - any excuse for a burnout image!
Plucked from the classifieds this week are a very nice Focus RS Mk1 plus an incredibly rare Bentley with a James Bond connection. Yes, really. And finally, if all that isn't enough, Dan is still razzing around in the Eunos with the orange wheels. Few less skids this month, mind.
