Geneva 2012: Ford Fiesta ST

The three-door production-ready Ford Fiesta ST has made its debut at the Geneva motor show.

The ST was first shown in five-door concept form at Frankfurt last year, and should be on sale in the UK some time in 2013.

Powering the diminutive hot hatch is a 180hp, 177lb ft 1.6-litre turbocharged 'Ecoboost' engine that'll manage a 0-60mph sprint in less than seven seconds and top out at 136 mph

The production version is powered by Ford's 1.6-litre EcoBoost turbocharged engine that's tuned to deliver 178bhp and 177lb ft. The Fiesta ST will sprint from 0-62mph in less than seven seconds and hit a top speed of over 136mph.

The Team RS-tuned chassis is 15mm lower than a standard Fiesta, and the new ST also gets a Focus ST-aping prominent trapezoidal grille treatment, while inside Recaro sports seats are standard.

Ford dealers are known for being open to haggling on prices for new cars though, so 18k is only really a rough guide. I've heard stories of ST220s (Back when they were new) going for 17k brand new fully loaded. Price also isn't far off that of it's rivals, and the power output is only a remap and decat away from matching or bettering it as well.

Price is supposed to be around £18,000 which if correct means they'll sell about ten.

The new Cliosport is reputed to have 220bhp so it should be much quicker.
Nah. The real price will likely be a lot less than list if past experience is anything to go by. Looks like a lot of fun and probably much better made than the equivalent Renault.

    I like.

The new Renaultsport Clio is going to be 5-door only.
It is true. And turbo-ed engine. Best to buy the current one while still produced.

At the very end of the Mk6 they WERE selling the ST for 10K - was a real heartbreaker for me who couldn't afford to insure one and ended up with a Zetec-S instead.
I guess with the new model on its way (all be it the zetecS) they might have wanted to shift the last ones, but sorry to hear that :-( zetec S is ok tho? as long as its not the nasty TDCI thing!! sort of defeated the point of it being sporty but hey!!

Insurance can be bloody awful, and a lad in our office at 19yr old pays £2400 a year for his T reg Megane 1.6 coupe! just silly, no wonder ppl drive without!

When was a new fiesta ST sold at a list price of £10k without any options?

    I call BS.
Fiesta ST was £13999 in 2005-6. before options.

bought a 55 plate, 1 year old, for £10500, with some options. had 11K on clock.

    so 10K new is BS!
