Goodwood is a rather special place, close to many people's hearts, and that doesn't change here at PH. Yesterday almost 800 cars descended on the famous circuit for our final Sunday Service of 2016, and what a fantastic send off to the year's events it was!
We started the day bright (well, foggy) and early to make our way down south, only to find we'd been beaten to the gates by a few intrepid members! Luckily the fog cleared, the rain held off and we were blessed with lots of lovely metal to gawp at... The eclectic mix of cars in attendance including everything from a Porsche 911 R, a Ferrari F12 and over 15 (!) McLarens, to a Fiat Panda 100HP, Mk1 Escort and even a London taxi. We were also lucky to play host to a member of the 'Holy Trinity', the absolutely stunning Porsche 918 Spyder.
Happily, Saturday's track day was also a resounding success, with lots of Christmas tarmac based fun! Again, a great mix of cars were on show - from several Mazda MX-5s to an Alfa Romeo 4C, which we hear was driven particularly well.
We would like to thank Overclockers for bringing their fantastic VR simulator along too; those that tried their luck thoroughly enjoyed it (although my attempts invariably ended in the barrier) and we hope to see them at more Sunday Services in future! We'd also like to send a massive thank you to Goodwood for having us, and of course the marshalls for being so organised and helpful.
Finally a huge thank you goes to the members who attended not just this weekend, but throughout 2016! From Anglesey to Ally Pally and Goodwood to Ginetta, we've had a fantastic turn out wherever we've been and we hope you've enjoyed it as much as we did.
So, that's it for our Sunday Services this year. We're currently in the process of organising 2017's events, so keep your eyes peeled for the events calendar. And with that, I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - see you all soon!
PHers are already discussing the Goodwood Sunday Service here.
