Alongside this year's London Classic Car show will be another classic motorsport attraction, the Historic Motorsport International.
Essentially it's two days of interviews, presentations and group discussions with the great and the good of the classic motorsport world. The headline stars are Jacky Ickx, Derek Bell, Emanuele Pirro and Jurgen Barth, to be interviewed on the experiences of 17 Le Mans wins between them by Henry Hope-Frost.
In addition, the Supaguard Theatre at Excel will play host to touring car father and son duo Andrew and Mike Jordan, designer Tony Southgate and Richard Tuthill of Tuthill Porsche, the guys behind the GT3 rally car.
It's not all heroic tales of derring-drift at HMI though, as there will be panel discussions on "key topics for historic motorsport." So you might actually learn something. These topics include Driving Standards and Safety, Scrutineering, Promotion of Historic Motorsport and the Landscape of Historic Rallying.
Oh yes, and there's a celebration of Formula Ford and the DFV V8 at HMI - both are 50 years old this year. And well, if you want your own early DFV tribute in 2017, YouTube has exactly what you'll need! Call it vital research...
Historic Motorsport International should be a great event for classic motorsport fans, in addition of course to the full Classic Car Show. Tickets are available in advance or on the door; see the website for more details.
