Yesterday PH returned to Brands Hatch for a repeat of last year's highly successful Sunday Service, once again run in tandem with the
Revolve24
cycle race. No, not on a tandem. Though that gives us an idea for next year...
With terrible weather rendering the previous day's trek to the Goodwood Revival a washout, there was a slight fear amongst the team that the weekend may be somewhat cursed. But when one of the first cars to arrive at a Sunday Service is an XJ220, you know that the driving gods are smiling on you. With the beautiful weather and great location enough to coax over 200 PHers from their beds, an unparalleled depth and breadth of incredible vehicles soon followed in the Jaguar's treadmarks. From an Aston Martin GT12 to a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus via two Lamborghini Murcielagos, a Renault 5 Turbo and an Ariel Nomad, all manner of automotive tastes were catered for.
Both first time attendees and seasoned Sunday Service veterans alike noted that they had rarely seen such a variety of ways to harness the enjoyment of an internal combustion engine assembled in one place. An assessment made all the more remarkable by the fact that, for once, the track was a strictly car free zone as the Revolve cyclists pedalled on through the morning, getting ever closer to completing that admirable goal of pushing themselves to the limit in the aid of charity. Many PH congratulations to everyone who took part in that.
Huge thanks also to all of the PHers who came out to make the morning so enjoyable, and of course to the Brands Hatch staff and caterers, without whom the morning certainly wouldn't have run so smoothly. We look forward to seeing you all next time!"
