What do you do when your Exige isn't quick enough? Bolt on a supercharger for that extra kick in the back, of course. And what if that isn't enough? That's where PHer Marc, AKA Ex51ge R, comes in, as he embarks on a journey towards 600hp. In an Exige. He's already at more than 500hp, with between 350 and 375lb ft as well. And a redline at 8,000rpm.
The original Rotrex supercharger was upgraded to a larger one, the engine was vapour blasted then sleeved to fit the uprated rods and pistons. To withstand the extra power, the front and rear wishbones were swapped out for S2 K Series ones and a new Quaife LSD and Stage 3 competition clutch will help put the power down through the track tyres.
Plenty of expensive looking machined parts have been designed, built and fitted to this manic machine. This list is far too extensive to detail here; fortunately every page of the 18-page thread is littered with stunning CAD renders. Throughout the build, Marc has been adamant that a build like this won't ever be undertaken again. Finally, despite the radical departure from standard, this is still a true lightweight Lotus: Marc has built a track car weighing less than 900kg with a full roll cage, extinguisher system and air jacks.
