Look away now if you're after an auction bargain. The Race Retro sale from Silverstone Auctions is crammed full of high-end supercars and sports cars, many exceptionally low mileage and offered in immaculate condition. It's probably an auction catalogue to lust after then, rather than prepare your bids for.
Mercedes 190E Evo II
estimated at £140-£160,000. It's not just M3s then! With just 1,700 miles on it and a recent major service, it could be the finest Evo II in the world. And that spoiler...
Elsewhere there's a Carrera GT, estimated at £400-£450,000 and wearing the numberplate BO53 CGT. Hmm... It was once owned by Gerard Lopez and has covered 18,000 miles. Is there room for values to climb further? For fans of older supercars, see this gorgeous left-hand drive Jaguar XJ220, estimated at £255-£295,000 with only 2,600 miles. And for those with a penchant for the 80s, what could be more of that decade than a Countach? This Pearl Yellow LP400S has been through a few colour changes in its life and has 38,000 miles recorded. Demand is clearly still there for the Countach, with this car expected to make anything up to a quarter of a million.
Low mileage, rare colour - what a treat!
Let's look at the slightly more affordable end of the auction. There's a rather interesting
Cortina Lotus
at £15-£20,000, for example. An estimate of £30-£35,000 sadly enough looks quite reasonable for an E30 M3 now, here thanks to a fairly high 125,000 miles. Finally, while we're on the fast saloons, who doesn't love a
Lotus Carlton
? This right-hand drive car has had five owners but has been driven only 77,000 miles in 25 years.
A final few highlights, if you're tempted. There's a Datsun 260Z Super Samurai, a stunning Capri 280 Brooklands and a CSK Range Rover in an incredible line up. See the full catalogue here, and don't get too carried away bidding on February 27/28!
