Buying a new car should be one of the most exciting things you can do, whether you're a frequent shopper in the classifieds or count it as one of those 'major life events' that only happens once in a while. Hopefully you'll have done your research, checked out the car thoroughly and have some idea of what you're in for with your new pride and joy. But as this thriving thread in General Gassing reveals more than a few of us have experienced 'buyer's regret' not long after handing over the cash.
Take R8Steve's experience of buying a Mazda RX-8 for instance. "A moment of madness confirmed by the coil packs failing before I could even get it home." Or how about Ali_T and his commendably brave purchase of the rare Alfa Romeo 33 Permanent 4. "When I heard it was an ex-lease and the RAC report turned up filler on half the panels I should have walked away. But they were rare, I was determined to own one and I stupidly thought 'what could go wrong?' Two hours later stranded on the M1 that question was answered."
There are plenty of other tales of woe in there, including proof that the Mazda MX-5 actually isn't the answer to everything. Got a tragic story of your own to share? Simply want to revel in the misfortune and poor purchasing decisions of others?
