The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power is an event with growing stature in the summer calendar and, for 2016, is expanding on the theme with a new name - Cholmondeley Power and Speed. New title or not, the event is now in its ninth year and the theme for this year has been confirmed today as celebrating all things supercar. Past, present and future were represented at the launch event by a stunning Lamborghini Miura S, Porsche 911 2.7 RS, Aston Martin Vanquish and a McLaren 650S Spider.
Celebrating 50 years of Miura
Event director James Hall said, "With a racetrack that rewards power and speed, we felt it was time for these key factors to be better represented in the event name and, after much thought, Cholmondeley Power and Speed was born."
The main attraction will be the cars battling for the quickest time around the 1.3-mile sprint course - trying to beat the 55.29sec record set by a Radical.
For a gentler pace the concours event, now in its second year, will celebrate all things shiny while back on track the Friday usually reserved for competitor practice will now also host the Motorshow Live. In a familiar sounding format this permits demonstration runs and drives for visitors by attending manufacturers, offering a chance to do more than just watch the action.
After last year's date clash with Le Mans organisers have paid a little more attention to the diary and scheduled the event for June 10-12, a couple of weeks ahead of that other event involving fast cars razzing around the grounds of a stately home. See the official site for more info.
