We already know that 007 himself will drive a one-off
Aston Martin
in the next instalment of everyone's favourite bulletproof spy franchise. But now we also know that there will be a variety of Jaguar and Land Rover products in the out-this-autumn Spectre as well, with the star being a welcome return for the C-X75 hybrid supercar concept that we're told will "feature in a spectacular car chase sequence through Rome alongside the Aston Martin DB10."
That's got to be worth the price of a ticket alone, surely?
No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to drive...
And given that we're assuming Daniel Craig will have bagsied the Aston, it's safe to extrapolate that the Jaguar is likely to be driven by one of the film's baddies, and that it's therefore likely to emerge in less-than-perfect nick (hence the headline. For which we apologise.) The official release also promises we'll see the new Range Rover Sport SVR and what's called a 'Defender Big Foot' with 38-inch off-road tyres, both of which have featured in scenes filmed in Austria.
There have been other Jags in other Bond films of course, with the most memorably probably the ridiculous Gatling-gun equipped XKR cabrio that took on Pierce Brosnan's Aston Vanquish in an ice palace in 'Die Another Day'.
Compared to that, a 900hp supercar with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine sounds completely convincing, doesn't it? It will be interesting to see if the electric side of the Jaguar's powertrain gets to power any of its weaponry... how about Tesla coils?
