Yes, the Geneva show looms and the teaser images, sketches and drip-fed info about the forthcoming debuts are now coming in thick and fast. And here's one from Mercedes, previewing the C-Class Cabriolet and described in the brief accompanying caption as 'an open secret' while revealing, perhaps not entirely surprisingly, it's derived from
the C-Class Coupe
Described as a 'sporty four-seater with a soft top' Mercedes also says this is a first for the C-Class model series. Strictly speaking this is true but you could reasonably argue this fits in where CLK Cabriolets of old once stood in the range and is something the brand has, for many years, offered in one form or another. Back in the day it even built a cabriolet version of the 190, an example of which now lurks deep in Mercedes' garage of prototypes, might-have-beens and general oddities. Suffice it to say that never made production, but the time is clearly now right for the C-Class to have its own cabrio and it'll look something like this.
Of course, we knew it was coming because we've seen spy shots of it in C63 AMG form already. Mercedes is clearly sticking by the traditional fabric roof and the proportions are arguably a little more resolved than the coupe, though of course final judgement will have to remain until we see it in the metal in a few weeks time.
