Heyford Park played host to PH on the weekend as around 150 members descended on the former RAF base for our inaugural Skoda Sunday Service.
The sunshine missed its cue but a line up of Skoda's most venerable cars greeted attendees instead, with the 1958 Skoda 1100 OHC Spider drawing surprise and admiration in equal measure. Alongside it a Skoda Fabia S2000 WRC 2 car and the world speed record holding Octavia vRS garnered plenty of attention of their own, the Bonneville salt still visible behind the headlights of the latter.
Of course one of the main draws of any Sunday Service is the display of PHers' own cars, and this week was no exception. Not one but two Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras were present, sandwiching between them a stunning Huracan still proudly wearing its 2016 Modball livery. New PHer tfboy even took advantage of the wide open space to treat several members to a launch in his P80D, all of whom seemed to come away with smiles on their faces and any doubt over the efficacy of Tesla's Ludicrous Mode dispelled!
Skoda themselves laid on a great deal of entertainment, even for those not predisposed to enjoying a Sunday morning of gawping at cars. This done via the medium of free ice-cream, served from a monster ice-cream van, as well as tea, coffee and a Scalextric track, which kept PHers of all ages content throughout the day.
A huge thank you to everyone at Skoda, who really went the extra mile to provide PHers with a great Sunday Service experience. Also, of course, to all those who attended for making the journey. We look forward to our next trip to Heyford, and the even greater attendance which word of this weekend's events will surely bring!
