Love your cars? A reasonable chance you're into your watches too, something reflected in the long associations between motorsport and some of the biggest names in the watchmaking business. And the thriving watch discussions to be found here on PH.
For those passionate about their timepieces the motivations for choosing one over another are as emotionally charged and complicated as they are for cars. After all, for those who speak the language the watch on your wrist says as much about your personality and tastes as the car you drive. And the debates are the same. Do you go for second hand or new - learning and understanding the story behind the watch or creating your own? Would it be traditional or something a little quirky?
So far PHers seem to favour a tourbillion, with many going for a grand-complication. But there are some leftfield choices. The Urwerk and the Ressence are not what you'd consider traditional, the latter using an air filled lower disk for the mechanicals and an oil filled upper disk to give the illusion the hands are on the surface.
