Children and grown adults alike spend hours playing games. Some have made money simply recording themselves playing games. But what about driving? Gran Turismo realised gamers could make good racing drivers when it started the GT Academy competition in association with Nissan, offering the best drivers a seat in a proper race car. Jann Mardenborough won the GT Academy competition in 2011 and is currently racing for Nissan NISMO in LMP1 cars.
Many PHers mention GT as the reason why they got into cars, opening up their awareness of Japanese imports as well as influencing their style of driving. It gave them knowledge on weight balance, racing lines and general spatial awareness, while others chased careers in the industry.
