Confirmed by boss Tobias Moers at the AMG end-of-year celebration (not been a bad year, has it?), the GT4 was described as "another important step in the continuing expansion of our Mercedes-AMG motorsport programme". GT R
has formed the basis for this GT4, implying that it may well use the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 rather than the old 6.2-litre warhorse. That's not confirmed yet though, so we'll live in hope! It's also said that "particular user-friendliness and an excellent level of safety" are priorities, as in the GT3 car.

In fact, GT4 racing looks to have a couple of exciting seasons ahead of it. Already cars like the McLaren 570S GT4, Cayman Clubsport and KTM X-Bow compete, plus there's a new GT4-spec Mustang to join the Mercedes and BMW soon. Exciting times!
