This car is a one-off, so don't get too excited. For the 2015 Dream Giveaway, an American charity competition that really does live up to the name, one of the prizes is a
Challenger Hellcat
. Not just any Hellcat either, but a Hellcat X.
Who wants just 707hp when there's 805?
The Hellcat X adds two turbos to the 6.2-litre supercharged V8, taking power from 707hp to 805 (!), with torque now rated at 800lb ft. Think about that for a second. Two turbochargers and a supercharger on a 6.2-litre V8. The turbos are 62mm Hellion Power System items, with the work undertaken by Walsh Motorsports. It's not an official Dodge product. No performance claims have been released but you would have to think this is the upgrade to take the Hellcat through 200mph.
The car is named after the US Navy's XF6F Hellcat fighter, which was also super- and turbocharged. Apparently the production version achieved a 19:1 kill ratio in WWII. In case it wasn't menacing enough...
The aircraft influence continues outside with the aluminium 'hood extractors' (or bonnet vents as they should be known) with a central scoop, front chin spoiler and adjustable rear wing also. How closely related to actual aviation these are is unknown but, well, would you argue with it?
You thinking what we're thinking?
The Dream Giveaway competition gets better too, with the Challenger prize also including a magnificent 1970 R/T 440. Manual. And $40,000 for taxes. All for three dollars. If that doesn't take your fancy there's a Corvette and a Mustang pair too...
Finally, about this one-off thing. The very prospect of a 707hp muscle car (and saloon!) was silly enough, so just finding another 14 per cent more power isn't that ridiculous. An official limited edition perhaps? Go on Dodge, you know you want to...
