Whatever you think of the Chris Bangle styling of the E63, its mix of steel for the main body shell with plastic front wings and aluminium bonnet is very durable. BMW's rust protection should mean any 6 Series is corrosion-free unless stone chips have been left unattended to.
On coupe models, the optional panoramic sunroof can squeak, especially in cold weather when seals shrink very slightly. Spray on rubber treatments, such as Gummi Pfledge can help cure this.
The fabric roof of the E63 Convertible is well made and should be in good condition. Check it operates smoothly and latches cleanly to show the car has not been in a crash at some point. The glass rear screen retracts into the body independently and should wind up and down quickly and quietly.
Otherwise, the only checks are for the headlight bulbs as they are expensive to replace and for any signs of crash damage or poor repairs.

"The car looks a million times better with black kidney grilles on the front."
