Remember the last time an
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
was seen on PH? We could well understand if you've blanked the memory from your mind, given how hideous it looked. But now the old disguise is off, the new disguise is on and, well, Alfa's SUV is looking far better.
Well it's better than last time at least
Predictably there are some familiar Alfa design cues, but that should hardly be considered a bad thing. There's clear Giulia influence in both the front and rear lights, much in the same way an
F-Pace
draws heavily on the F-Type and XF. Well if you're known for sports cars and sports saloons but need to make an SUV, you're sure as hell going to remind people of those wherever possible. Let's just hope it drives better than a
4C
With the bulbous extensions off, the roofline of the Stelvio appears to mirror the Maserati Levante. It's curvier than something like a Mercedes GLC, the look far more along the lines of the Porsche Macan and, again, that Jaguar. With the Levante having proved surprisingly accomplished, perhaps some of Maserati's apparent SUV nous will make it to the Alfa Romeo.
Official information on the Stelvio is still frustratingly tricky to come by, but it must surely be a priority for Alfa given the unceasing demand for SUVs. Expect plenty more on it over the coming months.
