The motorsport community bade a fond farewell to
this week, long regarded as one of the true gentlemen of the sport. Having won the inaugural British Touring Car Championship (and a second one a few years later), his place as a legend of the series is guaranteed.
But it's his sportscar success we'll focus on for this Pic Of The Week. Not only were these his lesser known triumphs, but E-Type Lightweight versus 250 GTO is rather cooler than Mini against Cortina!
Alongside a fifth place at the 1963 Le Mans 24 Hours, Sears also won the final Snetterton 3-Hour and took victories in a Daytona Coupe. In this picture from Mallory Park he's in the Ferrari, battling with Graham Hill in the Jaguar. And, well, you don't get motorsport pictures like this any more, do you? Rest in peace Jack.
