This is a perfect example of where driving a family estate doesn't mean abandoning dreams of huge horsepower. An Audi RS6 Avant (C6) isn't a bad starting point at all. The V10 might not - as many assume - be a turbocharged version of the Lamborghini Gallardo engine; bore and stroke are different, as are the bore centres. Indeed, if anything it's even more special because of it.
Having previously owned a remapped C5 RS6, original poster IanH755 knows a thing or two about power. Initially, the V10 didn't feel as fast as the remapped C5. After just a week of ownership, the engine and gearbox were remapped for 735hp and 740lb ft. Knowing this wasn't enough, some serious upgrades were also carried out to brakes, tyres and exhaust. A charity track day then led to a centre prop shaft repair. However, the need for more power hadn't subsided.
Jump forward to Christmas 2015, the RS6 went to the tuners for an 850hp conversion with uprated gearbox and a carbon ceramic brake kit. Still not enough for this PHer, the Audi was back at the tuners in April aiming for 900hp-plus. Still running stock internals, it is fitted with uprated turbos, gearbox and injectors, has hit 920hp and manages to break traction in third gear.
Congratulations OP IanH755; your Audi RS6 Avant is our Reader's Car Of The Week! Check out the build thread here.
