You don't need us to tell you that the
BMW M2
is a very desirable motor car; while production was never limited, being built on the same line as a regular 2 Series would always restrict how many could be built. As such its residual value is strong, with £45K still the
entry point
However, it looks like there's going to be another M2. Here's our first look at the facelifted car, presumably due sometime after the regular 2 Series update. Much of what appealed about the M2 seems to be present here - see the broad rear haunches, quad exhausts and huge front discs - only with a BMW nip 'n' tuck front and rear. Life Cycle Impulse is what these sort of refreshes are usually called.
The front looks to now include LED headlights as on the latest M4, while the front bumper now appears even more aggressive. Who knew that was possible? It is of course not quite production ready yet, so let's see. The tweaks at the back appear more modest, again with refreshed lights and perhaps a bumper change due if the disguise is hiding something.
Other than those fairly minor points, it looks like being the same M2 we currently know and love. A power gain seems unlikely given the M4 facelift didn't bring any additional poke; wouldn't want to impact on any sale of the more expensive car now. There's a Frankfurt show this year - don't forget it alternates with Paris as the big European show in September - where an M2 debut would surely fit very nicely. Bring it on!
