Now stories of manufacturers returning from a moribund state always have to be approached with some cautious optimism. While it's always great to see a comeback begin, making a manufacturer profitable and successful once more is another challenge entirely.
Who wouldn't want to see these back?
That being said, we'll treat the news that Wiesmann appears to have new owners as very positive. The cars were always
received very well
, and with M Division going turbo the German sports car manufacturer could be the last place to experience those brilliant old engines in a new car. But let's not get carried away yet.
Wiesmann went bankrupt in 2014, with the news now that the two Brits - Berry and Anita Tatalovic - have bought the trademark rights to Wiesmann Automotive GmbH and Wiesmann International GmbH. There are plans to reopen the factory, and with the GT MF4 Clubsport announced just before bankruptcy that will surely be the priority as and when production resumes.
Company founder Friedhelm Wiesmann has confirmed the signing of the contracts, which must be good news. There are few further details confirmed now, but we'll be sure to keep you posted as and when there is more news.
