Well here's proof that car manufacturers still have a sense of humour. This is the Toyota Tonka 4Runner concept, created for the SEMA show and one of our favourite concepts from this year.
Toyota worked with the Funrise Toy Corporation (yes, real name) to create this truck along the theme of "the ultimate off-road adventure." Mission accomplished from here!
It's powered by the same 4.0-litre V6 as the standard car but, as you can see, it's rather different elsewhere. A ten-inch Bulletproof Suspension lift kit jacks the ride height up, the wheels are 20-inch Ultra Motorsport 'Colossus' items and the tyres are 38-inch diameter and made by Mickey Thompson. They're called 'Baja', giving you some idea of what they could be used for...
And there's tent on the top. So when your day of fun in the sun and sand has come to an end, there's somewhere to stay before cracking on again the next morning. This all set off with those excellent decals and a general sense of fun that's so lacking from most things on four wheels. So well done Toyota, and well done Tonka. Now given it clearly works fine, can we have a go?
