Here's a suggestion: every car with 'GTR' in its name is going to be pretty special. It might have a space, a hyphen or neither, but those three letters are not going to be stuck onto something humdrum and ordinary. Nissan, BMW and Mercedes spring to mind initially, but don't forget Porsche either...
This is a 924 Carrera GTR, one of just 17 ever made and going to auction next month at the
Silverstone Classic
. Moreover it has covered just 109km since 1981, and only on track. The tracks in question are Fuji and Suzuka, which are pretty cool ones to have clocked up. It's a Japanese car, one of just two imported to the country, and has unsurprisingly been kept in a lavish collection across its two owners.
The spec of a GTR rather makes it a shame that it hasn't been used more though. It made 380hp and weighed just 930kg; with 935 brakes, fully adjustable suspension and - of course - that famed transaxle layout, it must be superb on a track.
The car is being sold at Silverstone Auctions' Silverstone Classic sale at the end of July, going under the hammer with other incredible lots like this Capri RS3100 and a very low mileage 205 GTI. See the full auction list here. The estimate? Er, £475,000 to £575,000. Yep. It's not just the arse-engined cars that are in demand! No doubt it's destined for another collection, but would it find a place in yours? We'd love to know!
