Porsche has finally made a Macan that's faster than a 911. The new Macan Turbo Performance Package boosts the 3.6-litre biturbo V6 from 400hp to 440hp, cutting the 0-62mph time by a hefty 0.4 seconds to 4.4 seconds. That's 0.2 seconds quicker than the new turbo-powered 991 Carrera with manual gearbox (and matches the one with PDK gearbox). Torque's up by 36lb ft (spread flat between 1,500 - 4,500rpm) and, surprisingly, economy's up as well, to a claimed 30.1mpg.
But this isn't Porsche simply turning up the boost on the Macan Turbo's motor. It's also lowered the standard sports-spec PASM suspension by 15mm, fitted 30mm-larger 390mm front discs (grabbed by red-painted six-pot calipers) and will let buyers option 21-inch 911 Turbo-style alloys if they so wish.
Sports Chrono Package is standard, as is a sports exhaust, which has an "even more emotional" sound, apparently, particularly in Sport Plus mode. While we're talking options, 10mm lower air suspension is available, as is a Turbo Exterior Package for full glitz and a Turbo Interior Package for more leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre. Oh, and the must-have illuminated model logo on the door kickplates.
The regular Macan Turbo costs £62,400 and this is available to order now for £68,073, which seems like a bit of a bargain, given the performance boost (and brag-ability such as a sub-3.0 second 49mph - 74mph in-gear acceleration time). Deliveries begin at the end of the year
