Trials legend Dougie Lampkin successfully managed to wheelie his way around the TT course this weekend, completing 37.7 miles on the back wheel in one hour and 35 minutes. Despite facing tricky conditions that included gusts of wind of up to 40mph on the Mountain section, Dougie kept it up and managed the incredible feat.
And it looked so good in qualifying...
"Up to ten times I came close to dropping and I thought I'd lost it twice," he said afterwards. "When you've lost your balance and your right leg comes off, you're in massive trouble. I couldn't rely on the rear brake at that speed."
Back on two wheels - well four, actually - and to the factory Ducati World Superbike duo of Chaz Davies and Xavier Fores. On a weekend away from WSB action, the pair were entered into the Audi Sport TT Cup (Ducati is owned by Audi's parent company VW) for the Budapest round at the Hungaroring.
Driving Audi TTs against the 16-strong permanent field, the WSB pair far from embarrassed themselves with lap times that would have put Chaz in the top ten and Xavier just outside. Well, it would have done if they had both stayed on the tarmac...
In race one Chaz tangled with another car before being forced to retire while Xavier spun on lap one before recovering to finish 13th. In race two Chaz once again was involved in a bit of argy-bargy that saw him fail to finish while Xavier had a drive-through penalty after spinning the car on the warm up lap, dropping him down the order. Who says car racing is easy? Best stick to two wheels lads.
