Pic Of The Week: Ferrari 250 GTO

Today's POTW has taken a rather left-field route to the homepage. It was actually reported as being 'offensive' to the PH forum moderators by PHer Olberj.

But far from taking umbrage to the photo, taken somewhere in deepest France by PHer Valkarth, Mr Olberj felt that the photo (and quite probably the car) is 'offensively good'.

He's right, too. And we really don't need anything more than the flimsiest of excuses to run a pic of a Ferrari 250 GTO, surely...

    Is that Daniel Wang's car?
Nope, but close. This example is owned by a good friend of mine, one of the nicest guys on the planet, a true enthusiast and very worthy custodian of such a machine. Most importantly it is absolutely not a garage queen. I am fortunate enough to have spent many, many hours in this car.

This was also safely in the garage when a few thought Tom Cruise had managed to get his paws on it for the Vanilla Sky remake.

One of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies! A much better film than the "Cannonball Run" series.
    Whats the film?

+1 - Love the Daytona, but might have the ragtop - never owned a ragtop so might as well make it worthwhile!

Much as i think the 250GTO is an amazing car i have to agree with MARS.

The Daytona is the one i would go for. I was lucky enough to use a Daytona, RPH 174L, as a 'company car' many years ago.

The noise, the looks, the engine. Just beautiful & in my eyes the Daytona is probably one of the most perfectly shaped cars ever built.
I have to disagree. I've never seen the facination with Daytonas. I think the Maserati Ghibli is a much nicer looking car, but of course, that's just my opinion. I do agree that the GTO is also overrated. It is a beautiful car, but there are other Ferraris from the era that are nicer. I think the 250 Tour de France SWB is overall a nicer proportioned car than the 250 GTO, yet commands 1/10 of the price of a GTO.
