Beneath the hybrid hypercars, the
Ferrari 458 Speciale
McLaren 675LT
are perhaps two of the fastest, most exhilarating and sell-your-family desirable cars to be launched in the past few years. The 458 is the pinnacle of the mid-engined Ferrari V8 Berlinetta, the McLaren the car that could compete with it from a company only five years old. They are about as good as supercars get.
Ferrari for January to June...
Both were produced in limited numbers, both have been massively in demand ever since launch and both are now available at way above their original list price. Perhaps because of this, there are quite a few examples of the McLaren and the Ferrari in the PH classifieds.
But nobody is selling both. At least, not together. Yep, one dealer is offering a matching - well, both white - 675LT and Speciale as one sale for £700,000. There isn't really a bad spec for either car but both of these look superb. The Ferrari is Bianco White with a NART Blue racing stripe, some additional external carbon and, of course, the Scuderia shields. It also comes with the special number plate 'SP61 ALE', but that can surely be sorted out. Many Speciales are seen in red, black or blue, this car proving that white also looks absolutely brilliant.
The McLaren is Pearl White with a 'Stealth' finish to the optional wheels. It also has carbon seats with white stitching, carbon mirrors, a carbon interior pack and even more carbon outside too. Oh yes, and 675LT branded floor mats too. Probably a few hundred quid in themselves.
Both are very low mileage as well, the Ferrari having recorded less than 1,600 and the McLaren on just 292. A shame that they haven't been used more, yes, but it does at least mean the next buyer has what must be two of the best examples around.
... McLaren July to December?
Furthermore, while £700,000 is a hell of a lot of money, it doesn't look absurd given the current market for both. In the classifieds right now £330,000 is the entry point for a Longtail, this
Mayan Spark car
similar in spec to the white one with the external carbon pack and Ultralight wheels. For a right-hand drive Speciale you're looking at a £315,000 start (best really like Italy for
this particular one
), yet cars similar to the featured one are available at Ferrari dealers
for £360,000
. To get both cars together in similar specifications for a negligible (in the grand scheme of things) premium looks like quite the deal. If £700K for two cars can ever be good value.
Downsides? There's an argument to say you would be perfectly happy with just one, although that's pretty weak really. Maybe if you have this much money to spend you wouldn't be happy with someone else's spec? Again, there are worse problems to have. If you can think of better then please do say!
Hopefully these cars will go to someone who'll use them, rather than being holed up in a collection waiting for them to appreciate. That's what they were designed for after all! Which to go for first?
