Sang Bleu: definitely one for the blue-bloods
The big news at this year's Pebble Beach might have been the new
Bentley Mulsanne flagship
, but the crew from Crewe (ahem) weren't the only VW Group brand to put some seriously luxurious new metal on show.
Bugatti, not to be outdone by the company its founder Ettore once described as the builders of the fastest lorries on earth, revealed a special edition of its soft-top Veyron - the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu.
But while most special editions are limited to just a few examples, Bugatti takes this one step further: there will only be one Grand Sport Sang Bleu.
The blue and silver colour scheme echoes the traditional blue paint and chrome highlights of the classic racing Bugattis of the 1930s, but is thoroughly 21st century in its construction. The blue parts are specially tinted carbonfibre, while the rest of the bodywork is polished aluminium.
Bugatti hasn't revealed a price for the Sang Bleu, although that trick carbonfibre and aluminium bodywork is sure to push the price a fair way beyond the £1.14m price of the standard Grand Sport.
