Ferrari's poor run of form in F1 2014 has resulted in the departure of Stefano Domenicali from the team. He has been team principal since 2008 but departs with immediate effect. His replacement, Marco Mattiacci, leaves his role as president and CEO of Ferrari North America.
Mattiacci to replace Domenicali in the F1 team
Until this season's rule changes, Ferrari had been competitive if not massively successful thanks to Red Bull's dominance. Felipe Massa of course only lost the title at the last corner of 2008 and Fernando Alonso ran Vettel close in 2010 and 2012. But it clearly hasn't escaped the attention of Luca di Montezemolo that Ferrari hasn't secured a drivers' title under Domenicali.
But Ferrari has struggled in 2014 with Mercedes romping out in front. Bahrain was particularly poor, with Alonso and Raikkonen competing for the lower scoring positions. As yet there is nothing more on Domenicali's future.
