Following another fantastic
Wilton Classic Supercar
, Pebble Beach represents that stage of the year when the summer shows are nearly done and the exhibition motor shows are approaching. Some of it's inside, some of it's outside and the whole show is a feast for car fans. Keep an eye on the site over the weekend for plenty of updates. Catch up with it all below.
Well if you missed out on the Jaguar...
E-Type Lightweight
launch has predictably caused much excitement around PH this week. Even out in California we expect it to command huge attention (keep a look out for a Pebble Beach blog update on it) and hopefully some future coverage of the car. Of course
POTW
featured the most iconic Jaguar too.
The Range Rover Sport SVR will be another significant debut for JLR at Pebble Beach, albeit for very different reasons! The Brit takeover doesn't end there either, with the McLaren650S Sprint, Caterham Seven 360 and 480 plus the Aston V12 Vantage S Roadster on show.
The E-Type may have captured hearts this week but we've also been won over by a few other lightweight sports cars. See BBR's 200hp Mazda MX-5, the Morgan Plus 8Speedster and Frontline MGB. Summer's not done just yet!
McQueen's Ferrari. Expensive isn't the word
But the American manufacturers have certainly not been overlooked this week. The
GT40prototype video
was one of many that could have been featured on stunning US cars at Pebble Beach. See the
Under The Hammer
preview for a more extensive list of auction lots. As for production cars, the
Dodge Charger Hellcat
isn't really a Pebble Beach kind of car but that's just one of the reasons why it's so cool.
And there's more V8 goodness too. As Dan's tenure of the Mercedes C63 507 wagon gradually draws to a close, Lexus has confirmed the price for the RC F. There will surely be a coupe of the next C63, which should make for a fascinating triple test with the BMW M4. But perhaps not as intriguing as that between GT-R NISMO and C63 AMG Black, one we'll hope to conduct again soon (see the story for why!).
Coming to a track day near you!
In a very appropriate coincidence, SEAT announced the
Cupra Performance Pack
just a day after the latest
Fleet story
on our car. None of the parts can be retrofitted though, which is a shame. In a busy week for long-term stories, Jesse Crosse also updated us on preparations for his
Escort RS rally car
Harris continued his enviable summer of racing with a Silverstone Classic place in a Lola T70. Read his thoughts here.
And on top of all this, there's a new £100K Garage, an Impreza P1 in Carpool, a PHerDream Drive and a rather risky Shed. More next week!
