"Don't even ask!" is the official Lotus response to the request for any comment on the car you see here. So we'll have to do some speculating.

, we can be sure of that. But the aero addenda is very new for an Elise, a roadgoing one at least. It will look familiar though if you remember the
Elise S Cup R
from last year. The splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler and even the centre-exit exhaust are identical. Using some well-honed deduction skills we would therefore suggest this may be a roadgoing version of the Elise S Cup R. An Elise Trophy perhaps? Or could

Of course all this conjecture could be entirely inaccurate and it could be a Lotus mule for something different. Much is being made of the fact it lacks the track-spec battery cut-off and extinguisher buttons and, clearly, it is running plates and lights suggesting a degree of road worthiness. But would that aero really be acceptable for road homologation?
We'll have to wait and see, but with the Paris show just a few weeks away it might not be for too long. Until then all guesses, educated or otherwise, are most welcome.
